Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen President and CEO of the LEGO Company
Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen is the third generation at the head of the LEGO Group. He was born with a deep love for LEGO products. While still a boy, he was a skilled modelmaker and a regular sparring partner in the design department when new models were tested. Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen took a B.Sc. degree in Economics and Business Administration at Århus School of Business Administration, and in 1972 gained an MBA degree at IMD in Switzerland. In 1973 he joined the family enterprise as co-director of the LEGO Company's technical R&D department and of its first foreign production plant in Switzerland. In 1979 he succeeded his father as CEO with overall responsibility for the whole company, subsequently quadrupling the company's sales.

These days it is imagination, creativity and learning that set the pace at the LEGO Company. And Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen? He still retains his boyish enthusiasm for the latest LEGO products.

"Imagination leads us to those precious moments when we say, 'Aha - I just thought of something new!' It is when we are able to see things not as they are - but as they could be." Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, 1998
